Agro-waste startups tackle India’s plastic waste and smog
India is one of the top food producers in the world, up there with other global breadbaskets like China, the US and Brazil. India’s farms generates 500 megatonnes of residues per year, equivalent to the weight of around 1,300,000 Boeing 747s. This ocean of feedstock remains largely untapped but startups are spearheading the valorisation of Indian agro-waste. With better government policy, many more could follow.
